This October 9th, Copenhagen will celebrate its 23rd annual Culture Night, filling the city with both exploration and relaxation late into the evening. Of the 600+ offerings, Molly Nemer highlights five exciting, hygge-filled events. With colder months approaching, Culture Night is a perfect opportunity for tourists and locals of all ages to get cozy with Copenhagen’s culture and community.

Light show and bonfire at Designmuseum Danmark
Mingle in the cobblestone courtyard and meander through Designmuseum Danmark into the new award winning autumn exhibit, MINDCRAFT15. Listen to music outdoors, watch a light show, roast marshmallows over a bonfire and meet design-minded Danes, and much more.

Tea Salon at the David Collection
Get a taste of Morocco without actually leaving Copenhagen by experiencing Scandinavia’s largest Islamic art collection. Enjoy an autumn evening in the culturally immersive courtyard of the David Collection, letting freshly brewed mint tea warm you at the Moroccan Tea Salon “Thé à la Menthe”, where you can also purchase lite, delicious Middle Eastern delicacies.

Light and Sound at Thorvaldens Museum
Combine the old with the new as sound and light projections take you on an “underwater” journey 100 years into the future at the Thorvaldsens Museum, a regal yet intimate space immersed in historically rich art and architecture. The theme of Light and Sound is climate change. Imagine the effect of global warming in this immersive and interactive indoor adventure.

Celebration in Art at the Glyptotek
During Celebration in Art, you can go on an art history treasure hunt (with prizes awarded from the gift shop!), visiting works from Egypt to France to Denmark. You can also get a sneak peak of the “Shipwreck - The Coin Hoard of the Six Emperors” exhibition which opens to the public October 12th. After playing detective, sit down beneath the indoor palm trees of the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek’s Winter Garden and relax to the musical styling’s of Veronica Hodges and the Vocal Ensemble Glas, performing their “Wisdom of Bird” repertoire featuring a new twist on Bulgarian folk music.

Wind down Culture Night with lounge music at the state-of-the-art Jacobsen Brewhouse & Bar or in the beer garden, enjoying a true Danish beer whose history dates back to 1847. With a light display on Visit Carlsberg's chimney, you’ll have no trouble finding the place!
