Gl. Holtegaard

Gl Holtegaard is a gallery with changing exhibitions of contemporary and modern art. The museum is beautifully surrounded by a typical baroque garden, inspired by French ornamental gardening.

An Art Gallery with many facets
Gl Holtegaard welcomes you to art exhibitions with something to say. Here you find an art space that encourages debate and reflection and invites you to a broad spectrum of experiences. The Kunsthal shows exhibitions ranging from notable contemporary artists to classical masters of art history. Many different artists and styles have been showcased at Gl Holtegaard, which provides space for the aesthetic, the sensational and the shocking.

From classical art to modern installations
All year Gl Holtegaard opens its doors to temporary exhibitions by both Danish and international artists. Once a year you find a group exhibition with new international art. Here the emphasis is on artists who have never or only rarely been shown in Denmark and the focus is especially on media installations and films. In addition, the public will be presented to an exhibition of a classic artist. Thanks to contributions from a number of private foundations over the years, it has been possible to show exhibitions by artists such as Egon Schiele, Camille Claudel, MC Escher and Ansel Adams.

More than just exhibitions
In addition to the museum's exhibitions, Gl Holtegaard has a number of activities and events on the program. During the summer, you can among other things enjoy concerts, garden walks and the traditional Æbledag, a day dedicated to the apple, where the garden apples are harvested, and children and adults can taste the newly squeezed juice. For each exhibition, you can also attend lectures and artist talks.
